Below we have listed the most often asked questions:
Q) What happens when it freezes?
A) When the temperature drops to or below the freezing point, it doesn't have any effect because the ice remains on the surface of the insert, therefore there is no water in the gutter to freeze. When the ice or snow melts then the melt water trickles through.
Q) When it rains really hard does the gutter run over?
A) No, GutterStuff®Pro is completely non-absorbent and has been designed to let the water run right through.
Q) Do you need to clean it?
A) No the pore size is just right to let the smallest particles pass through and keeps the larger particles on the surface to eventually blow away.
Q) What about the tiny pieces of gravel from the roof shingles?
A) The gravel passes right through and gets washed down the downpipe.
Q) Can the wind blow it out of the gutter?
A) No it fits snugly in the gutter under the gutter hangers or spikes. Once installed, the GutterStuff®Pro surface sites level with the top of the gutter channel. This gives the GutterStuff a very low profile in relation to the prevailing wind. If you would like added peace of mind against the most extreme weather conditions, then we recommend a small seam of roofing sealant every metre or so.
Q) Do birds or other animals harm the foam?
A) No. GutterStuff®Pro is impregnated with a friendly Biocide and Fungicide to stop organism and mould growth. As a foam, GutterStuff®Pro has no interest for birds and animals, having been tested so far for nearly 10 years all over the world woth no reported issues so far.
Q) Does rainwater lodge in the gutter when GutterStuff®Pro is fitted?
A) No. If your gutter is properly fitted, and correctly maintained and is cleaned out 'ONCE' before fitting the insert no rainwater wil stay in the guttering. This avoids water stagnation preventing insects and mosquitoes etc from breeding in the guttering. It also means that there is no water ingress into your sofit, facias or brickwork causing dampness with the associated repair and maintenance problems / costs.
Q) Does the heat from the sunlight harm the foam?
A) No. GutterStuff®Pro is has UV protection built into it's structure. Only the very top surface may get a little stiff after many years exposure. The rest of the filter is shaded so the Sun's ultra-violet rays.
Q) How long has this product been on the market?
A) GutterStuff® has been available from the first quarter of 2003, starting in the USA. The Pro version has been available from 2006.
Q) Do you offer a warranty?
A) Yes. GutterStuff®Pro carries a 15 year warranty.
Q) How do you install it around the gutter spikes?
A) GutterStuff®Pro slides right underneath gutter spikes, hangers or specialist fixings. (This only relates to ALu, Seamless or Specialist guttering.)
